Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Tuesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 291.46 to 293.07 points, a gain of 0.55 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.30 percent to 293.45 against 292.58 points previously.
The equity market capitalization sagged by XOF 21 billion (about US$35.6 million) to close at XOF 7,241 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,220 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 244,296 traded stocks relative to 60,489 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 891.759 million (against XOF 697.533 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 36 traded securities via 240 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 244,296 traded securities (accounted for about 78.42 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 431.868 million contributing nearly 48.43 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 9.26 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 21.86.
Out of the 36 traded securities today, 12 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 13 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainer after adding 4.48 percent to end at XOF 30,300. CROWN SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 2.88 percent at XOF 26,750 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATED TOGO closed at XOF 55 after gaining 1.85 percent. FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE share price advanced by 1.69 percent to close at XOF 26,500 and BICI COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 95,000 after surging by 1.60 percent.
On the other hand, BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE sagged by 4.53 percent to settle at XOF 126,000 as the biggest loser and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGAL plunged by 2.38 percent to trade at XOF 82,000. SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 1.90 percent to close at XOF 25,500 and NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 1.85 percent to trade at XOF 53,000. TOTAL SENEGAL settled at XOF 25,500 after crashed by 1.54 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index surged by 0.68 percent at 163.77 points and public utilities sector index grew by 0.05 percent to end at 800.28 points. The distribution sector index plunged by 0.18 percent to end at 535.89 points but financial services sector index surged by 0.72 percent to end at 108.24 points. Agriculture sector index gained 0.41 percent to trade at 192.43 points. Transportation sector index remained constant to settle at 949.08 points and miscellaneous sector index remained flat at 555.56 points.
